The Rev. Andrew McLarty joined the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Brookhaven, Mississippi as Priest-in-Charge in May of 2020 and was called to be Rector in 2022. He is a native of Jackson, Mississippi, but also lived in Tennessee a couple of times, as well as the Gulf Coast. He loves Brookhaven, the beauty of the forests and fields, the delicious local flavors, and all the wonderful people.

He was an undergraduate at the University of the South (Sewanee) and later received a Masters of Religious Education from Loyola New Orleans and a Masters of Divinity from the School of Theology at Sewanee. Before his ordination, he was a teacher at two Episcopal schools in Mississippi, and he served as a youth minister on parish and diocesan levels. His greatest passion is to teach and help people know and follow Jesus.

Andrew has been married to his wife, Emily, for ten years. They have a daughter, Waverly, a Rottweiler named Hilde (St. Hildegard of Bingen, and a Giant Schnauzer/Bullmastiff pup named Lucy (St. Lucia).

When he's not around the church, you are likely to find Andrew in the backyard, slow-smoking some part of a pig. He also enjoys backpacking, corned-beef hash, Star Trek, and anything written by Neil Gaiman, Jim Butcher, or Patrick Rothfuss.
